The
Monument to the Brilliant and Victorious NATO General Dr.
Freud, 2000, urban installation
Anatoly Osmolovsky has placed a heavy military gun verticaly
into a sewerage hatch. This absurd metal "flower" is for him
a reaction to the recent happenings in Kosovo. He believes
that bombings of Serbia by NATO is actually a personal sexual
drama of the President of the United States, Bill Clinton;
"in this sense", says the artist, "ten milliliters of Clinton's
sperm make an equivalent to a couple of thousands of liters
of blood of the killed Serbs". On the other hand, Osmolovsky
is interested in the transformation of a familiar object (military
gun) into an absurd "monument to the triumphant militarism
of Freudism".
